How to Send Nuggets

There are several ways to build the Pressure on Policymakers!   All of them require copying Nuggets you resonate with, and them sending them out.   You can send them to your friends and your organizations, with encouragement for them to send on to their friends,  policymakers, candidates, and the press.   You can also send them directly to Policymakers, Candidates, and the Press yourself.

We originally tried emailing them to Members of Congress, but that turned into a brick wall - their email service won't allow attachments or visuals.  And NUGGETS are VISUALS!   So we now use two main strategies:

1.  Hard-copy direct mailings, which can have a direct impact since at least staffers will see and handle the Nugget and perhaps learn and lend importance to the message.  This is a path open to all - you just copy and print a Nugget and mail it off to the person of interest to you with your own demands.

2.  Social Media postings, which have the potential of being a great "force-multiplier" as followers get linked in and engaged.  We are now on X-Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  They use different techniques and involve different sets of participants.  X is best for direct messaging to policymakers, while the others focus more on expanding the numbers of followers.

Which platform is right for you?  Each platform plays a different role. X (Twitter) is best for direct constituent pressure — when you tag your rep in a post, it's public and on the record. Instagram and Facebook are better for expanding your circle — sharing Nuggets with your own followers so more people engage and add their voices. Hard-copy mail is slower but surprisingly effective — a physical letter with a Nugget attached lands on a staffer's desk and gets handled. Many of our most committed activists use all four. Pick the one that fits you best, or work your way through them all.

So, here's how to use these techniques, including how to get on the platforms and identify your Members of Congress, etc.:
